| Keep your student’s computer safe from cyber dangers: |

Install an anti-malware program because college students spend a lot of time clicking on links from Facebook, file-sharing services, etc. |

2. |
Make sure they log on with a non-administrative user account. It will limit the risk of infections. |
| |
3. |
Pay for something like Netflix, Hulu or iTunes because students usually follow the path of least resistance. So if you don’t make it safe and easy for them they will probably download from an unsafe file sharing site. |

4. |
Buy them locking cables. Naïve college students are not always alert to keeping their expensive technology out of sight so at least make it harder to steal. |

5. |
Preconfigure Wi-Fi. Most Wi-Fi routers are wide open to intruders. So preconfigure the Wi-Fi and the equipment to use it in a locked-down manner. |
